24-Year-Old Thibaut Daprela from France Claims 3rd Place

VAL DI SOLE, Italy, June 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2025 season is heating up! Monster Energy congratulates team rider Marine Cabirou on taking first place in the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup in Val di Sole, Italy, this weekend. In the fourth race of the season, the 28-year-old from Millau, France, took the victory in the Elite Women's division.

In the Elite Men's division final on Saturday, 31-year-old Troy Brosnan from Adelaide, South Australia, earned a second-place finish to claim his first podium of the 2025 season. He was joined on the podium by 24-year-old French team rider Thibaut Daprela in third place.

From June 20-22, the iconic bike park in Val di Sole hosted the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup. The legendary track in the mountainous Trentino region has hosted off-road mountain bike events since the UCI Downhill World Championship in 2008 and ranks among athlete-favorite courses on the circuit.

In Saturday's Elite Women Downhill final, Marine Cabirou dropped in looking for a top spot after finishing closely outside the podium contention at the previous race in Saalfelden, Austria, where she finished in fourth place. As it turned out, she would rise to victory through a combination of grit and racing IQ.

Although Cabirou found herself in fifth place at the first split of the track, she rallied to gain time in each sector of the race. By the time she reached the fourth split, she had gained the lead position and ultimately powered through to earn the win on a finish time of 4:10.310, a strong 1.2 seconds clear of the next racer.

Saturday's win marks the 10th World Cup victory for Cabirou. On the strength of her result, Cabirou now holds fifth place in the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season rankings with 567 points.

"I'm really happy to win today after struggling in the first races of the year," said Cabirou. "The track was really tough, the dry conditions were very tricky, and the dust made it almost impossible to see the lines. I wanted to push more (after qualifying fifth), and it paid off. I was never comfortable on my bike with how the track was destroyed; I don't think anyone was, but I managed to relax and enjoy it anyway. I'm very happy to take my tenth World Cup win here in Val di Sole!"

In the Elite Men Downhill final Troy Brosnan claimed his first podium of the 2025 season with a strong second-place finish. Working the course with speed and precision, Brosnan finished with a total time of 3:41.284 to climb onto the highly contested Val di Sole podium.

"That was a super hard track to go fast on," said Brosnan about the race in Val di Sole. "I've been really trying to get back up to speed ever since my win last season in Canada. It's been a hard road to get to this point. We've worked endlessly on the bike setup, and the team has done an amazing job. To come second in qualifying and to repeat that in finals is not quite a win, but it feels so close after all that work. Let's keep this going into the next round."

The second-place finish provides Brosnan a major boost in overall 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season rankings. He now holds seventh place with a score of 465 points.

Brosnan was joined on the podium by Thibaut Daprela in third place. Daprela completed the challenging track in 3:42.223, less than one second behind Brosnan. Daprela now holds fifth place in season standings with 503 points.

"It's been a while since I've been on the podium. This one feels really good," said an excited Daprela. "I had my chain come off on the second corner, so I decided to just go for it and see what happens. It was all or nothing! It was pretty tough, but I knew my lines and was confident in how I'd been riding all weekend, so I took the challenge and held on tight. I'm super stoked to be back up to a faster pace."

Almost rising to the podium, 21-year-old American team rider Dylan Maples finished the steep track in 3:43.590 for fourth place. He was closely followed within fractions of a second by 28-year-old Loris Vergier from Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, in fifth place with a total time of 3:43.931. Vergier now commands third place in the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season rankings with 525 points.

Stay tuned when the 2025 UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup continues from July 3-6 in La Thuile, Italy.
